How to Use the Bikemind App

The Bikemind app is designed to enhance your cycling workouts by providing structured training zones and adaptive pace control. This guide will help you get the most out of the app.

Setting Up Your iPhone

First, mount your iPhone to the handlebar so that the screen is easily visible without distracting you during the ride. There are many bike phone holders available on the market. One of the best, though not the cheapest, is QuadLock. For a comprehensive guide, you can refer to this article.

Using Predefined Workouts

Bikemind comes with several predefined workouts that you can edit to suit your needs or use as a template to create your own from scratch. When creating a new workout, always start with a 5-10 minute warm-up to avoid muscle strain or injury.

Monitoring Your Workout

Once you're ready to ride, select a workout from the main screen of the app using [Select Workout] button. When workout is selected, tap the [Start] button.

During your workout, there are two important widgets to monitor:

  1. Workout Chart: This outlines the stages of the workout. A blue arrow indicates your current position within the workout.

  2. Current Pace Gauge: This shows your current pace as a percentage of the target speed. Bikemind dynamically adjusts your target speed based on the steepness of the terrain. Aim to maintain a target pace of 80% to 100% of the current target speed.

Safety Tips

Safety should always be your top priority during your workout. Stay vigilant of road traffic, pedestrians, and other cyclists at all times. Pay extra attention during "Zone 3" segments of your workout, and consider wearing appropriate safety gear like a helmet and reflective clothing. Obey traffic laws and use hand signals to communicate with drivers and fellow cyclists on the road.

By following these guidelines, you can ensure a safe and effective workout with the Bikemind app.
Happy cycling!
